When
you choose Physical Therapy First in Baltimore, Maryland for rehabilitation,
you will first be thoroughly evaluated to determine the underlying
dysfunctions causing your symptoms and limitations. By accurately
determining the impairment, your physical therapist will then be
able to develop a plan of care to address the dysfunction, facilitate
pain-free functioning, promote independence with activity, design
a home exercise program and prevent re-injury.
Each patient’s treatment plan will be designed to address
each individual’s physical limitations, injury or diagnosis,
functional deficits and medical history. Some of the areas assessed
in physical therapy include: joint range of motion, joint mobility,
muscle flexibility, strength, neurological function, balance/joint
proprioception, pain and muscular function. Speed, agility and power
may also be assessed in athletes or patients who are returning to
sports and recreational activities.
An important part of every treatment is patient education. Education
provides patients with a better understanding of the current injury/dysfunction,
the effects that injury has on the patient’s everyday life,
and reviewing modification of daily activities and biomechanics
to prevent re-injury.
Our private practice physical therapists
will communicate directly with the referring physician, primary
care physician, coaches and family members/care-givers when appropriate
to facilitate optimal therapy outcomes.
Through comprehensive evaluation, treatment,
and continual re-assessment, we hope to effectively address the
therapist findings and patient concerns to promote a return to normal
daily and recreational activities for the patient.
