Don't let months of training end in pain...

Recover faster at Tri-Speed Multisport Performance Center with Physical Therapy First.

Tri-Speed Multisport Performance Center is a one-stop shop for all of your racing and training needs. The store opened in April of 2010 and has been warmly welcomed into the Baltimore tri-athlete community. Tri-Speed offers coaching, clinics and training (check out the FluidSwim pool for training, instruction and wetsuit testing) in addition to being a fully stocked retail store.

Tri-Speed works closely with Physical Therapy First (PTF) to offer its' athletes the opportunity to resolve chronic injuries such as, Plantar fasciitis (foot pain), Achilles Tendinosis, IT Band Syndrome, Shin Splints, Knee Pain and Hip Pain. Both Tri-Speed and Physical Therapy First recognize that athletes work hard to get where they are and that an injury doesn't necessarily mean an end to training. Every Thursday, Dave Bender (one of PTF's senior physical therapists) is at Tri-Speed offering free assessments to all who are interested.

FEATURED TREATMENTS AVAILABLE AT TRI-SPEED MULTISPORT PERFORMANCE CENTER:

ASTYM(A-stim) treatment is performed with ergonomically designed instruments to allow rapid identification and effective treatment of areas exhibiting texture changes associated with soft tissue fibrosis or chronic tendinopathy. ASTYM disrupts fibrosis adhesions to recreate an environment where the tissue will re-start the healing process which was previously stalled. The ASTYM system gets rid of scar tissue problems from old injuries and is used as a preventative solution for scarring.

Active Release Technique (ART) When muscle, tendons and nerves lose the ability to naturally glide on one another, painful restricted conditions can arise. ART is a system/movement based massage technique used to treat the soft tissue and restore normal motion by combining precisely directed tension with very specific patient movements. In many cases, ART reduces pain and discomfort in the first visit.

Dry Needling Trigger Point Release helps aid in muscle recovery from delayed onset muscular soreness. Often soft tissue, muscle, and tendon injuries are in a chronic "non-healing" phase in as little as two weeks. The medical application of needling soft tissue causes muscle relaxation, which increases local circulation and enhances the healing potential in the tissue.

ADVANTAGE:

  • Treatment is fast - Most patients experience pain relief and a faster recovery after the first session, with a typical course of treatment lasting only weeks.
  • You get to stay active - During these therapies you are actually encouraged to continue normal activities. You can still go to work and stay in your sport or favorite activity without having to take time off from your life while you heal.
  • No medication
  • Insurance-covered -The cutting-edge treatments we offer are well supported by medical research and recognized by medical insurance carriers.
  • Treatments really fix the problem - ASTYM, ART and Dry Needling don't just treat the symptoms or hide a problem with a temporary solution. Instead, all help the body to heal properly and completely by stimulating the natural healing process.

Physical Therapy First believes you can train while you heal using such techniques as:

  • Joint Mobilization
  • Spinal Decompression
  • Custom Shoe Orthotics
  • Athletic Taping
  • Ultrasound
  • Electrical Muscle Stimulation
  • Iontophoresis
  • Phonophoresis

In addition to our satellite office at Tri-Speed, PTF also has three other convenient Baltimore locations: Roland Park, Hampden and Mt. Vernon. To learn more about what PTF can do for you, check us out at www.physicaltherapyfirst.com or call 410.662.7977.
